Develop continuity by finding a group that meets regularly. Friendships help children develop a sense of belonging, social skills, and self-esteem. Park meet-ups are great for this. It's very casual and you have flexibility to show up or decline without investing. Most Mothers agree it is always a struggle getting out the door but showing up never disappoints. Don't be bummed if your child doesn't click with group right away, it takes time for most people to bond. These meet-ups offer the flexibility of bringing all of your children with you which is less stressful. Cultivating Community is what saves most of us from quitting homeschooling. 

Co-ops are homeschool groups in which parents work cooperatively to offer learning opportunities for homeschool kids. Parents take turns offering a subject, craft, class, or field trip. Most co-ops require a annual or monthly fee. These groups offer the flexibility of allowing siblings to join which reduces stress on the parents. 

Some options for Physical Education for Homeschoolers

• The YMCA offers physical education classes for homeschoolers as well as ongoing classes for; swimming, basketball, baseball, and soccer. 
• There are many opportunities to promote physical education in your local gymnastics center. Many of these offer parkour, ninja, and competitive gymnastics.

In the State of California homeschooled kids cannot participate in public school sports. California did not pass the "Tim Tebow Law" also known as "Equal Access Law". In those states that don’t have “Equal Access” bills, the school, school board, or school district has the ability to decide if the homeschooler can play sports at the public school. 

These are not schools. These are businesses. They are homeschool enrichment centers. Or, outdoor enrichment programs. They offer drop off programs for your child during the regular school day. If you are on the fence to homeschool out of fear your kids won't be social, don't. Socializing happens everywhere. Unless you live in a remote location where they never interact with people they will make friends and develop social skills.
